It all started when I was walking down the street. And then I saw a person and he didn't really care about this land. He kept throwing rubbish everywhere. But if we are borrowers we are only here temporarily, so we are just borrowers of the land. But we are borrowing this land from the landowners or the homes and communities. But if we were borrowers, how should we take care of this land?

Now if we were actually borrowing this land we can't just have fun. We have to take responsibility for our actions too. We have to take care of this land and pick up rubbish we see on roads, beaches, and even parks. Even though this is not our land, we still have to take good care of it. But because we don't take care of this land, rubbish will go everywhere! And NZ generates 17mil waste and it's over 76% of going to landfill! Rubbish everywhere and ends up stinking. If we clean up the rubbish, people won't have to smell those bad smells. So if you see rubbish, clean it up and put it in one of the nearby rubbish bins.

But we can also help by telling other people to care for this land too, and finding some people to motivate. For example you can tell other people to not throw rubbish and not make land fill out of it. To motivate the people around you to pick up rubbish to help the environment. And confront the people who are not doing the wrong things. Motivating people helps them to motivate others. You can motivate people by putting up posters. And they might help clean up rubbish too!

But our last and final way of trying to help the environment is to get some help.Like forming a group or making a team to clean up this land. Using the motivating idea will make people form a team. Getting together to clean the beaches and parks like a team. And also Teaming up with some environmental organisations like"Environment and Conservation Organisations of Aotearoa New Zealand"or "conservation in New Zealand". Forming a team makes it quicker to clean up this land. And we can make it quicker by working together.

If we want to throw rubbish, we can just throw it in the rubbish bin. Some people are lazy like a lazy sloth, they would just throw it on roads and it flows away to one of the nearby forests, and it will ruin the environment and habitat! So make sure to pick up the rubbish if you see some. And just like what chiefSeattle said." We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow from our children".

But this is all and here's the question. "Who are we borrowing this land from?".

Matthew

28/06/2025

28/06/2025
