<p class="ql-block">中英文日記 2025 , May 30th </p><p class="ql-block">Yesterday, the kids came over to play. My eldest grandson proudly wore two medals he had just won at the British Columbia private school track and field competition — he and other three little boys won first place in both the 4x400m relay and the 4x1200m relay. </p><p class="ql-block">We were happy for him and encouraged him to develop in a well-rounded way. Having athletic competitiveness and a strong body from a young age can nurture powerful learning and working abilities in the future.</p><p class="ql-block">In a video taken a few years ago, the two boys were sprinting across the green lawn of a school behind our house. I led the race and ran with them, while Grandpa captured those precious moments on camera. It was so much fun. </p><p class="ql-block">Twenty years from now, this video can show them that we weren’t always lying in bed sick — just look at how we used to run faster than they did.</p><p class="ql-block">Yesterday, Grandpa said to the younger one, "You’ll join competitions like your brother and win awards too." The little boy replied, "But I’m not as fast as my brother." I said, "But you’ve always had a big appetite and are very strong." Grandpa added, "Just look at how you run after hitting the ball in softball — you’re fast." Hearing this, he nodded and said, "Maybe." We need to help build the kids' confidence.</p><p class="ql-block">So I took the opportunity to say to the younger one, "You used to help me tidy up the yard and pull weeds. Now I can pay you five dollars each time. Would you help us out?" He was playing while playing on the iPod and replied, "Okay." </p><p class="ql-block">I was a bit concerned he might bring up the topic of minimum wage — after all, he’s eight, turning nine soon. Luckily, he doesn’t read the news or follow social issues yet, so he hasn’t made the connection to topic regarding child labor or exploitation.</p><p class="ql-block">Well then, when the sun is shining, we’ll rally the three little ones to pull weeds in the garden, while we sit under the canopy enjoying our twilight years. That, too, is a kind of blessing, isn’t it?</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">昨天孩子們來(lái)玩，大孫子驕傲地佩戴兩個(gè)獎(jiǎng)?wù)拢瑒倓偒@得碧詩(shī)省私立學(xué)校田徑比賽兩個(gè)第一名，四百米四人接力賽和一千二百米四人接力賽，我們?yōu)樗吲d，鼓勵(lì)他全面發(fā)展，從小有體育競(jìng)爭(zhēng)能力，有強(qiáng)壯身體，才能孕育強(qiáng)大的學(xué)習(xí)和工作能力。</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">在這個(gè)幾年前拍下的視頻里，兩個(gè)男孩在房屋后的綠草場(chǎng)飛奔，我一馬當(dāng)先和他們比賽，爺爺捕捉下珍貴鏡頭，其樂無(wú)窮。二十年后這也可以向他們顯示，我們并不是總是躺在床上養(yǎng)病的，看看那時(shí)比你們都跑得快。</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">昨天爺爺和弟弟說，你也會(huì)和哥哥一樣參加比賽，也會(huì)得獎(jiǎng)的，小男孩說，我沒有哥哥跑的快，我說可是從小你吃得多，很健壯，爺爺也說看你打棒球，打了就跑，很快的，他聽了點(diǎn)點(diǎn)頭說，也許吧，我們要增添孩子的自信。</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">于是我趁機(jī)對(duì)弟弟說, 你以前幫我整理草地拔野草，現(xiàn)在我可以一次付你五塊錢，幫我們忙好不好，他邊玩手機(jī)邊回答，好，我還要擔(dān)心他會(huì)否和我談最低工資的話題，他八歲了，很快九歲，虧好他還不怎么看報(bào)紙社會(huì)議題，還不會(huì)聯(lián)想到童工或者剝削的議題。</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">好了，等陽(yáng)光明媚時(shí)，發(fā)動(dòng)三個(gè)小東西在花園拔草，我們可以坐在涼蓬下頤養(yǎng)天年，這也是一種福分吧。</p> <p class="ql-block">四百米接力賽，大孫子文博一馬當(dāng)先，遙遙領(lǐng)先，第四個(gè)男孩沖刺，把其他學(xué)校對(duì)手遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)拋離在后，真自豪真高興。</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">文博的奶奶，即我本人當(dāng)年在北京也是中學(xué)校園田徑隊(duì)拿第一的，還參加區(qū)里田徑比賽。奶奶的媽媽四十年代是南京市中學(xué)女生短跑第二名。文博的爸爸，我們的兒子蘇佳樂三十年前代表圣喬治學(xué)校在BC 省四百米接力拿下第一名，一個(gè)華人男孩，兩位白人男孩，一位黑人男孩，四人組合所向披靡。沒想到三十年后他的兒子也輕而易舉，和其他三個(gè)小孩拿下BC全省比賽年齡組冠軍??。</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">爺爺?shù)闹蹲幽孟率澜缢匣骞谲姡A裔和西班牙混血，夏威夷長(zhǎng)大，現(xiàn)在在一個(gè)美國(guó)海外領(lǐng)地國(guó)家開辦學(xué)院，世界有名的體育健將。</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">我們兩人數(shù)十年如一日，散步打球跳舞，做著輕松的體力勞動(dòng)，比較放松，所以目前還保持著健康。</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">孫子的媽媽，我的兒媳，據(jù)她媽媽昨天告訴我小時(shí)候也是學(xué)校短跑第一，看來(lái)還是有優(yōu)秀體育基因的，我的愿望就是孩子健康長(zhǎng)大，幸?？鞓? 其他成功都是錦上添花，但這個(gè)錦繡根底就是健康身體和健全人格。</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block">我哥哥的女兒，我的侄女，在溫哥華也是參加幾項(xiàng)全能比賽，四十歲出頭的年輕華裔媽媽居然把很多其他族裔女士比下去，也很值得夸贊的。</p> <p class="ql-block">冠軍??兩項(xiàng)接力賽，四百米和一千二百米，圣喬治學(xué)校四個(gè)小男孩全省第一名。我讓大孫子文博戴著獎(jiǎng)?wù)伦屛遗恼眨挥X得有什么了不起，他從小就跑得快。</p><p class="ql-block">三十年前我兒子和其他三個(gè)男孩也同樣獲得此殊榮，代表同一所學(xué)校，獲得四人接力賽全省第一，有其父必有其子， 我加一句，有其爺必有其父！</p><p class="ql-block">Champions ??</p><p class="ql-block">In two relay races, the 400 meters and the 1200 meters, four little boys from St. George's School came in first in the entire province. </p><p class="ql-block">I asked my eldest grandson to wear his medals so I could take a photo, but he didn’t think it was a big deal—he's always been a fast runner since he was little.</p><p class="ql-block">Thirty years ago, my son and three other boys received the same honor, representing the same school and winning the provincial championship in a four-person relay. “Like father, like son” and I’ll add: “Like grandfather, like father!”</p> <p class="ql-block">弟弟也很憨厚可愛</p><p class="ql-block">Younger brother is modest and lovable</p> <p class="ql-block">妹妹玩電腦眼睛都不眨</p><p class="ql-block">Little sister concentrates on computer games without blinking her eyes</p> <p class="ql-block">小貓咪說，你們?yōu)槭裁床桓彝?，我很悶的！我也?huì)跑，和兔子賽跑我都會(huì)贏, 你們不給我機(jī)會(huì)！很不公平，對(duì)我們四個(gè)孩子不一視同仁！</p><p class="ql-block">Why won’t you play with me? I’m so bored! I can run too—you know, I could even beat a rabbit in a race! But you never give me a chance! It’s so unfair. The four of us are not being treated equally! Life is not fair !</p> <p class="ql-block">四年半前的2020 年十月在新家后面的操場(chǎng)和孫子們一起玩皮球，跑的飛快，可以超過他們兩個(gè)小東西，現(xiàn)在不行了，長(zhǎng)江后浪催前浪，一代一代這樣成長(zhǎng)代謝。</p> <p class="ql-block">三年前在花園里兩兄弟和鄰居兩兄弟一起玩，都跑的飛快，那兩個(gè)英國(guó)小男孩是雙胞胎，爸爸是溫哥華業(yè)余足球協(xié)會(huì)的負(fù)責(zé)人，兩個(gè)孩子從小就喜歡在足球場(chǎng)上玩，我家這兩兄弟相差兩歲，也是喜歡瘋跑，湊在一起院子里跑，也是一道風(fēng)景。</p> <p class="ql-block">今天六月一號(hào)， 弟弟文雄在棒球場(chǎng)上，我照下這張運(yùn)動(dòng)小健將的相片，捕捉到極富動(dòng)感的畫面，很得意。當(dāng)他長(zhǎng)大，會(huì)感謝奶奶為他抓拍的那一瞬間。</p><p class="ql-block"><br></p>
