兒子徒步穿越大峽谷（英文版）

Here’s trip details and pictures! So we went backpacking through the Grand Canyon. People usually do rim to rim (North and South) where you go from one peak to the other end of the peak. However, because it’s winter time, the North Rim is closed off, so there are no cars or shuttles that can pick us up, so we had to do South Rim to North Rim to South Rim. It’s usually done over 4-8 days but because of our school schedule and availability of permits, we did it in 3 days, 2 nights (see photo for email by the ranger warning us that it is difficult and dangerous, but the ranger was mainly referring to the summertime because the canyon get get up to 110 degrees)  There was originally 7 people going on the trip, but one guy couldn’t go because he’s a Marine and had to work that weekend, and another girl was not feeling well so she came to Grand Canyon but did not do the hike. She went to stay in Flagstaff, Arizona that weekend but then came down the Canyon on Sunday to meet us as we were hiking back up. We finished class at noon on Thursday and drove 9 hours to a campsite at the Grand Canyon. Got in around 10PM and woke up at 5AM to re-pack and get ready for the hike. See pictures below for details of the hike. It’s supposed to be 51 miles total, but my Apple Watch ended up logging 59 miles total. Day 1 (18.4 miles): We started at the South Rim and went via South Kaibab Trail to Cottonwood Campground. Day 2 (17.7 miles): We went from Cottonwood Campground to the North Rim via North Kaibab Trail and then back to Cottonwood Campground. Day 3 (22.9 miles): We went from Cottonwood Campground to the South Rim via Bright Angel Trailhead. Total elevation gain going up both Rims was about 11.5k feet.  Day 1: Temperatures were around high of 50 and low of 20. Generally all downhill from South Rim to the Colorado River, about 9 miles. And then another 9 miles to walk across the canyon and about 2k feet elevation to Cottonwood Campground. Arrived around 4PM, ate dinner and slept. You can see the north rim at the very far end of the picture. Day 2: Temperatures were around high of 40 and low of 20. Woke up at 6am. We hiked about 8.5 miles up to the North Rim and then 8.5 miles back down to Cottonwood campground. About 4500 feet elevation. As we got closer to the top, it started to snow very heavily. At the North Rim, everything was completely covered in snow. Returned around 5pm and slept.  Day 3: Temperatures also around high of 40 and low of 20. Snowed in the beginning at camp and also snowed again the last few miles from South Rim. Woke up at 5am; arrived 5pm. Then we got pizza and then drove home at 7:30pm; arrived in San Diego at 2:30am. We took turns driving. Made it back to the top at south rim  Was one of the hardest and tiring hikes I’ve done but very beautiful. The snow was very cool also!  我問他，在大峽谷里怎么??？吃什么？Kevin：I brought a lot of snacks like beef jerky and protein bars. For dinner, we all brought freeze dried and dehydrated meals (you can buy from store). You add boiled water and it turns into a meal. 2 people brought portable hiking water boilers. We carried our own tents, sleeping bags, pillow, sleeping mattress and slept in tents overnight. I had my own, and the others had 2-person tents。他沒有拍照片，下面兩張是產(chǎn)品賣家的照片。
